Foundation Programme for New NHSGGC Managers and Supervisors

Course overview

This programme is part of the role specific induction programme for the new managers and supervisors and provides an introduction to NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde through a series of interactive presentations.

The programme will also:

  • Encourage networking opportunities
  • Signpost to additional management information
  • Encourage you with ongoing personal development during your career in NHSGGC

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the programme you will be able to:

  • Describe the vision and values of NHSGGC
  • Understand your role as a people manager and how you can create an engaging and positive culture for your team
  • Support staff health and wellbeing in your workforce
  • Define your responsibilities in managing Health, Safety and Risk
  • Articulate the effect of equality, diversity and inclusion on all aspects of the manager’s role and its impact on the organisation
  • Understand your role in countering fraud in the health service
  • Outline your role and responsibilities in relation to Staff Governance and Information Governance
  • Understand our Partnership arrangements with Trades Unions and Professional Organisations
  • Access further detailed information on a range of HR polices and processes (including, Staff Health and Wellbeing. Clinical Governance, Financial Governance, SSTS, Occupational Health)

Who should attend

Newly appointed managers and supervisors in NHSGCC who have responsibility for managing NHSGGC staff in their teams. This includes managers employed in integrated Health and Social Care Partnerships who have responsibility for NHS staff.


Attendance should be discussed with your line manager as part of your overall induction plan to support you as a new manager/supervisor in NHSGGC.
