NHS Scotland Workforce Policies are single, standardised policies to be used consistently and seamlessly across the NHS in Scotland.
The Once for Scotland Workforce policies are person-centred and will be applied using the NHS Scotland values:
- care and compassion
- dignity and respect
- openness, honesty and responsibility
- quality and teamwork.
The seven policies below form phase 1 of the Workforce Policies Programme and apply to all NHS employees in Scotland. Further policies will become available in later phases. Areas not addressed by these policies, will continue to be covered by the current workforce policies within NHSGGC.
- Bullying and Harassment
- Workforce Policies Investigation Process
Each workforce policy comes with extensive support to ensure the consistent application of the policies across all of NHS Scotland. These supporting documents form part of the standard for workforce policies that apply to all NHS Scotland employees.
As part of the Human Resources Support and Advice Unit Recovery Plan to recommence full caseload working, refresher sessions have been agreed in partnership to support managers with these policies.
Similar sessions were delivered prior to the implementation date of 1st March 2020.
It is recognised that some managers may find it beneficial to have further sessions in order to re-familiarise themselves with the main changes to the phase one policies.
There will also be an opportunity for new managers to attend People Development Programmes which will include modules on Attendance and Workplace Investigations for further training and knowledge. The People Development Programme will be re-established and advertised in due course.
