Alcohol and Drug Recovery Services

For alcohol and drug addiction problems you can either self refer directly to the local specialist teams or contact your GP. Crisis services are also available at the Glasgow Alcohol and Drug Crisis Service.

There are also various voluntary organisations operating in local areas to offer support for those who are having problems with alcohol or drug misuse.

Which services are offered?

This service offers open access to all. They receive referrals from a wide range of services but also welcome self-referrals, either through drop in or by telephone. They provide a range of care and treatment options for people living in Glasgow affected by drugs and/or alcohol. These services include:

  • Alcohol support and treatment, including community detoxification and protective medications
  • Drug support and treatment, including opiate replacement therapy
  • Support with a range of social issues
  • Support to young people affected by alcohol and/or drug issues
  • Support and treatment services to parents affected by alcohol and/or drug problems
  • Support and treatment services to those involved in offending and affected by alcohol and/or drug problems
  • Harm reduction advice and interventions
  • Needle replacement
  • Blood Borne Virus testing and treatment
  • Access to alcohol and drug Tier 4 services – psychiatry, psychology, occupational therapy and hospital services (specialist in-patient, outpatient and day services)
  • Access to residential rehabilitation services
  • Access to Drug Crisis Centre and Link up
  • Access to community Recovery Hubs
  • Signposting to a range of support services and recovery communities.

Turning Point Scotland – Glasgow

Glasgow Alcohol and Drug Crisis Service

Service for people with drug use issues.

Within the centre there is 24-hour support and advice, needle exchange and support service.
Residential beds are also available for people who are assessed as not managing in the community.
Glasgow Alcohol and Drug Crisis Service provide free condoms, advice available 24/7.

Glasgow Homelessness Service

Service for rough sleepers or homeless people in Glasgow.

Link Up provides a 24-hour support and advice service. A residential unit is also available for those in immediate crisis needing social and health care support. No referral is necessary.

ADRS aims to improve the lives of people with problematic alcohol and drugs use in East Dunbartonshire.

You can contact ADRS on 0141 232 8211 (within office hours).

We offer assessment, support and treatment for alcohol and drugs issues by offering person-centred, recovery-focused care
and treatment. We may refer you to other local recovery services when appropriate.

Once we receive a referral, we will offer you an appointment within three weeks to assess your needs and agree a recovery
plan. We can assess you by telephone, online or in person. You are welcome to bring a friend or family member to your
assessment appointment.

Inverclyde Alcohol and Drug Recover Service provides confidential support and advice to anyone affected by drug and/or alcohol addiction within the Inverclyde Community.

Anyone can refer, including:

Self-referral, a family member, carer or friend who is referring on your behalf, your doctor or another health and social care professional

An initial assessment may be done over the phone, with face to face appointments available when required. We work in partnership with other community recovery partners to ensure that the right care, treatment and support is offered at the right time based on assessed need.
Inverclyde ADRS will support individuals to best treat their addiction and ensure that their physical and mental health needs are .

The service offers Naloxone, Injecting Equipment Provision, blood borne virus testing and access to treatment, a range of psychological therapies, community and in-patient alcohol detox and residential recovery based on assessment of needs.
