Using Artificial Intelligence in Cancer Diagnosis
Learn how Artificial Intelligence could transform cancer diagnosis and improve outcomes for patients.
What was it about?
Artificial intelligence (AI) has transformed many industries around the world, from aviation to education. We’re exploring the use of AI within healthcare settings.
Starting in Spring 2022 we plan to trial an AI programme within Imaging (part of our Diagnostics Directorate).
We shared more about the trial and how AI could help improve lung cancer detection on chest x-rays. This would help to reduce the time it takes for patients with an abnormal result to get a report and start treatment. We also explored how AI might assist clinical staff to prioritise waiting lists and support the radiologist by adding confidence to their diagnosis. This would then free up time for the reporting of more complex studies.
We were keen to raise awareness of this innovative new trial and provide opportunities for feedback and discussion.
When was the session?
