Feedback sought for new Care Home support group

  • 2 min read

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is seeking feedback from a range of stakeholders to help shape the work of a newly dedicated multidisciplinary team – The Care Home Collaborative.

The Collaborative is made up of three multidisciplinary teams (Hubs) of health professionals and will work with the care sector, HSCP teams, Scottish Care, the Care Inspectorate and others in order to enhance care quality for care home residents across NHSGGC and support the sector’s recovery from COVID-19.

It will provide support for the 187 care homes across the health board area with the overall aim of enabling residents to live their best possible lives aligned to what matters to them the most.

In its first major piece of engagement work, the Collaborative is seeking feedback from care home residents, families, and those who work in the care home sector to help shape the work of the teams as  going forward. Stakeholders have been invited to answer what matters to them about their experience of care. The survey is open for responses until the 5th of November 2021 and should take no more than 15 minutes to complete. It is available here.

Jennifer Rodgers, Deputy Nurse Director, at NHSGGC said:

“Care homes have faced some of the toughest challenges from COVID-19. The care home staff have worked incredibly hard to care for their residents through such a difficult time.  We recognise that moving forward, there is a need for a dedicated and ongoing resource to listen to, support, provide advice and help care homes navigate an environment where so much has changed over the past 19 months.

“The Care Home Collaborative’s core priority is to enable care home residents to lead as purposeful and fulfilling lives as possible and this goal will be underpinned by pillars of listening, engagement, education, professional leadership, assurance and improvement.

“We’re very keen to hear from stakeholders – be that care home providers, managers, staff and residents and families of residents, so we’ve launched a full engagement campaign to find out what matters to them. This will help us drive objectives and ensure that the Collaborative provides impactful change to the lives of care home residents now, and in years to come.”
