Dr Lesley Rousselet

Non-Executive Member

Biography

Dr Lesley Rousselet is appointed as a non-executive board member from 1st July 2021 until 30th June 2023.

Lesley works as a community based, independent prescribing optometrist, having qualified in Optometry from Aston University in 1996, with a PhD in Vision Sciences in 2013.

Within NHSGGC, she currently holds the position of Chair of the Area Optometric Committee and of the Area Clinical Forum.

Dr Lesley Rousselet is joint Programme Director for Optometry in NHS Education for Scotland, and is driven by a passion for accessible and excellent patient care.

Ian Ritchie

Vice Chair

Biography

Ian Ritchie became a Non-Executive member of the NHS Board on 1st July 2016 and was appointed Vice Chair to the Board on 1st June 2020. He is appointed until 30th June 2024.

As a recently retired Trauma and Orthopaedic surgeon, Ian has 25 years first-hand experience of the challenges of providing a service in a District General Hospital. He had a general orthopaedic practice with an interest in upper limb problems. Ian has always had an interest in surgical training which he pursued as Director of Surgical Training at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) and has delivered courses on these topics in UK and internationally.

He was elected President of the RCSEd from 2012-2015 during which time he saw the challenges and frustrations experienced by all levels of staff in the NHS in managing the enormous pressures and changes affecting us in delivering healthcare.

 Ian was Chair of the Academy of Medical Royal Colleges and Faculties in Scotland for two years (2013-15).

 In addition to his role as Non-executive director on the Board of Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Ian is the chair of the Health and Social Care Physical Activity Delivery Group for the Scottish Government.

Anne-Marie Monaghan

Non-Executive Member

Biography

Anne-Marie Monaghan is appointed as a non-executive member from 1st July 2016 until 30th June 2024.

Anne-Marie originally trained as a Community Education Worker. With over 30 years experience of working in the voluntary sector in both youth and community development projects, she then moved to the public sector in community care.

She held a range of senior posts with significant financial, governance, operational and strategic responsibilities, demonstrating effective skills in commissioning, service redesign, and the development of innovative practice.

Anne-Marie led the initial development of self-directed support in the largest of the three Scottish Government National Test Sites, and was a member of the National Implementation Group.

She brings to the Board her significant experience of social work delivery, with skills in learning disability, policy, community engagement, and of working in the context of health and social care integration.

Anne-Marie Monaghan has a positive track record of managing change and of developing partnership working.

Ketki Miles

Non-Executive Member

Biography

Ketki Miles is appointed as a non-executive board member from 1st June 2020 until 31st May 2024.

Ketki has 32 years’ experience working for a global financial services organisation.

She has worked in a wide range of senior leadership roles in the UK, Europe, Asia and the US, with experience in working with diverse and dispersed teams.

Ketki brings strengths in operational leadership, strategy, and change management.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science.

Ketki Miles has an appreciation of the challenges the NHS faces nationally and in Greater Glasgow and Clyde and is looking forward to making a contribution.

Professor Iain McInnes

Non-Executive Member

Biography

Professor Iain McInnes is appointed as a non-executive board member from 1st April 2021 until 31st March 2025.

Iain is Vice Principal and Head of the College of Medical, Veterinary and Life Sciences, Muirhead Chair of Medicine and Versus Arthritis Professor of Rheumatology at the University of Glasgow, Glasgow, United Kingdom. He is also Director of the Versus Arthritis Centre of Excellence for Inflammatory Arthritis, led from Glasgow and including Universities of Oxford, Newcastle, and Birmingham.

He is immediate past chairman of the FOREUM (Foundation for European Rheumatology Research) Scientific Committee, leads the European Roadmap programme that is defining the research agenda for European rheumatology for the next decade, and is currently President of EULAR (European Alliance of Associations for Rheumatology), the leading trans-national society for rheumatology across Europe. Under these auspices, he is creating the first pan-European Rheumatology Research Centre, launching in 2021.

Over two decades, he has led numerous clinical trials and pathogenesis investigation programmes in inflammatory arthritis at an international level. His work is focused on understanding the pathogenesis of immune mediated inflammatory diseases and encompasses basic discovery immunology through phase 1 and proof of concept experimental medicine clinical trials to leadership of pivotal phase 3 trials in immune biology. His original discovery work has led to the therapeutic targeting of several inflammatory cytokines. More recently, he has focused on the biology of myeloid cells in the pathogenesis of a number of immune diseases. He has published >400 peer-reviewed original and review articles with an h-index >100.

Professor Iain McInnes is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and the Academy of Medical Sciences. He is the recipient of several prestigious prizes in recognition of his work, including the Sir James Black Medal of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 2017, the Heberden Medal of the British Society for Rheumatology in 2018, and the Carol-Nachman Prize for Rheumatology, Germany (the highest international award in rheumatology) in 2019. He was awarded a CBE for services to medicine by Her Majesty the Queen in 2019.

John Matthews OBE

Non-Executive Member

Biography

Rev John Matthews became a Non-Executive member of the NHS Board on 1st July 2016, and was appointed Vice Chair to the Board on 1st June 2020. He is appointed until 30th June 2024.

John has held senior positions within industry, latterly with General Electric of America.

In his early forties he studied for the Ministry of the Church of Scotland and was Minister of Ruchill Parish Church in North Glasgow for 19 years, until his recent retirement.

He is passionate about engaging with the wider social and economic concerns of Glasgow and beyond.

John has served on the Boards of Glasgow Alliance, Glasgow Community Planning Partnership and Scottish Enterprise Glasgow as Deputy Chair. In 2010 he chaired an Independent Enquiry into Maximising Recovery from Dependent Drug Use in Scotland.

He was on the Council of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and chaired the Lay Advisory Board.

He became chair of Simon Community Scotland in 2008.

Rev John Matthews was awarded the OBE for services to economic development in the Queens Birthday Honours List in 2007.

Margaret Kerr

Biography

Margaret Kerr is appointed as a non-executive board member from 1st April 2019 until 31st March 2023.

Margaret brings significant financial expertise to the Board having accumulated more than 20 years’ experience from auditing and advising private companies, listed corporates and large public sector organisations. As a qualified Chartered Accountant (ICAS), Margaret has extensive financial reporting, internal control and corporate governance experience and has worked with a wide range of stakeholders including clinicians, academics, senior management and non-executives to develop and improve governance.

Margaret Kerr is also a Chartered Member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (CMIIA) and has performed the Head of Internal Audit role for a number of public sector organisations, including NHS Boards.

Jacqueline Forbes

Biography

Jacqueline Forbes is appointed as a non-executive board member from 1st July 2016 until 30th June 2024.

Jacqueline is a development professional with extensive experience in residential and mixed use development throughout Scotland and a wide range of commercial, technical and business skills which she hopes will be of benefit to NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

She graduated from the Mackintosh School of Architecture in Glasgow and has worked in private practice in Glasgow; local authority in Kilmarnock and Loudoun and Clydebank District Councils before joining the Miller Group in Edinburgh in 1989.

Jacqueline progressed to Architectural Manager in Partnership Housing before returning to Glasgow as Architectural Manager for the West of Scotland. In 2001 she added an MBA to her qualifications and became Development Manager responsible for the redevelopment of Leverndale in Crookston and Canniesburn Hospital in Bearsden. She was also a Board member of several joint venture companies ensuring sound financial and business management.

In 2006 Jacqueline joined Stewart Milne Homes in Aberdeen as Development Director before returning to private practice as Residential Director with Halliday Fraser Munro where she was involved in the delivery of a wide range of developments including the Aberdeen Maggie’s Centre. She now owns her own Property and Development Consultancy.

Jacqueline is also a former External Examiner of Professional Practice at the Mackintosh School of Architecture and Edinburgh University as well as a former Chair of Women in Property Northern Scotland.

Alan Cowan, Non-Executive Board Member

Biography

Alan Cowan is appointed as a non-executive member from 1st July 2016 until 30th June 2024.

Alan is a retired RAF Group Captain and has worked in a wide range of senior health leadership appointments in the UK, Europe, Middle East and USA.

A graduate of the RAF College Cranwell, he led the UK specialist military medical retrieval teams, delivering worldwide aeromedical critical care and evacuation. Subsequently, he represented the UK on veterans’ health issues in the US Department of Veterans Affairs when based in Washington DC, and led the development of a new strategy for the UK Defence Medical Services. 

He is a past Board member of Voluntary Health Scotland, a Community Resilience Officer, and has a regional Reserve Forces leadership role.

Alan brings strengths in operational leadership and strategy together with experience in working across professional, cultural and national boundaries.
