Recruitment and Selection (People Management Module)

Course Overview

This module will help you to carry out high quality interviews with candidates, carry out analysis of candidate strengths and weaknesses and appoint the best candidate for the post. You will also explore how to apply equality and diversity principles throughout the recruitment journey and demonstrate person centred care during the interview process.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the programme you will be able to:

  • Identify recruitment policy and procedures on HR Connect
  • Apply equality and diversity principles throughout the recruitment journey and demonstrate person centred care during the interview process
  • Understand and adhere to the Boards 2 tick Disability symbol award and make reasonable adjustments to interview where it is required
  • Understand the manager’s responsibilities in relation to recruitment and the role of the HR practitioner to support
  • Understand and nominate an “induction lead” for the member(s) of staff being recruited and be familiar with the Health Care Support Worker Mandatory Induction Standards and Health Care Support Worker Code of Conduct
  • Provide feedback to unsuccessful candidates

Who Should Attend

Any manager in NHSGGC who has responsibility for managing NHSGGC staff in their teams. This includes managers employed in integrated Health and Social Care Partnerships who are not directly employed by NHSGGC.

Pre-requisites; Familiarity with the current policy, guidance notes and tools which are found here.

Duration; 4 Hours


To ensure maximum impact of these modules we have introduced more extensive evaluation.

As part of the booking process you and your manager will be asked to consider your reasons for attending the module and how outcomes will be measured. We will contact you and your manager approximately 10 weeks after the module to gather feedback on how your learning was applied.
