Course Overview

eESS (electronic Employee Support System) is the new national workforce system coming soon to NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. Managers will be able to access their employee’s data online and get up to date information, as well as complete transactions which will then feed straight through to Payroll.

This training session will enable you to utilise the part of the system called Manager Self Service. Through Manager Self Service you will be able to electronically complete transactions and access real time reports. You will be able to book your employee on to training courses directly and view their training log.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course delegates will be able to:

  • Understand the principles of eESS Manager Self Service and how to navigate the system
  • Undertake changes to staff personal information e.g. address change
  • Manage applications for leave e.g. annual, maternity, paternity, adoption
  • Manage actions requiring management level attention, approve, reject and return for correction
  • Undertake changes to job information changes e.g. change to position, hours, location, cost code
  • Use the system to manage additional information requirements e.g. non NHS employments, absence management, return to work, exit interview and qualification updates

In addition, if delegates are identified as a Local eESS Champion, by the end of the session delegates will be able to:

  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of the Local eESS Champion
  • Identify the available support and guidance from the HR Support and Advice Unit

Managers/ supervisors who currently process and/ or responsible for the approval of the following staff transactions using current NoC forms and other paperwork:

  • Staff personal information change
  • Job information changes
  • Types of staff leave
  • Termination of employment

There is not currently a tutor led course available for this subject.

e-Learning

Any manager who did not get an opportunity to attend face to face manager self-service training can undertake the eEES Manager LearnPro module. The module provides a quick overview of Manager Self Service and links to the Standard Operating Procedures. Log on to LearnPro and search for “eEES” under the Specialist Subjects tab.

In addition, we would encourage managers and their staff to visit the national eESS website. The website contains step-by-step user guides and short e-learning videos for all transactions you will complete on eESS.
