New NHSGGC flip cards make it easier to find health advice and support
Finding trusted, local health information is now easier than ever thanks to a new partnership between NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and Council libraries.
Reception desks and information areas in the main libraries of Glasgow, Renfrewshire, East Renfrewshire, West Dunbartonshire, East Dunbartonshire and Inverclyde Councils will have new Health and Wellbeing flip cards to give quick and easy access to local health supports.
The new flip cards give details on what’s available locally – from physical activity groups to support to stop smoking. Each card has email addresses, phone numbers, website addresses and QR codes, allowing customers to take the next step in accessing support with minimal fuss.
Their launch comes as part of Health Literacy Month (October), a global campaign to make it easier to find and understand health information.
Sarah Duncan from NHSGGC’s Health Improvement team, said: “Finding and understanding trusted health information can be overwhelming for a lot of people. They might not know where to look, how to use the internet or feel confident chatting with a health professional.
“The library, however, is a trusted place of information and these new cards will make it easier for local people to find available support services on their doorstep, sometimes even in the library itself.
“Each card also includes a link to our new My Health website – an online place to find information on health, self-managing common conditions and preparing for appointments.
“My Health gives people something to read, watch and do to improve their health and combines with the flip cards to make it easier for everyone to find trusted local health information either online or in their community.”
