
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) is celebrating the outstanding achievements of its nursing and midwifery staff following a triumphant evening at the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) Scotland Nurse of the Year Awards, held at the National Museum of Scotland in Edinburgh.
NHSGGC nurses and midwives were recognised across multiple categories, showcasing their dedication, compassion, and innovation in care across hospitals, health centres and in the community.
Award winners:
- Adult Nursing Award – Winner: Kirstie Law, ENT Emergency Nurse Practitioner, Queen Elizabeth University Hospital
Kirstie was praised as “exceptional” by her nominator for delivering high-quality, patient-centred emergency care to over 4,500 patients annually. Her innovative approach reduces hospital admissions and enhances patient flow. She is also a key mentor and educator, shaping the future of ENT nursing in collaboration with Glasgow Caledonian University. - Learning Disability Nursing Award – Winner: Assertive Outreach Team, Renfrewshire Learning Disability Service
This team was recognised for their rapid, person-centred interventions that support individuals in the community, reduce hospital readmissions, and ease caseload pressures. Their work has made a lasting impact on patients and families, earning praise from judges for their commitment to positive change.
