Update on COVID-19 Cases Linked to North East Glasgow

  • 2 min read

We can confirm a total of 14 positive cases in this cluster have been followed up by the GGC Test and Protect service. This includes the case whose details were issued last night.

None of the cases are causing any clinical concern.  Test and protect staff have continued to contact anyone who may be affected and close contacts are being advised to self-isolate and being given appropriate advice.

To control the spread of the virus it is essential that any one contacted by test and protect follows the directions given by our contact tracing team, including self-isolation.

At this time to respect and maintain patient confidentiality no further details will be released.

Health and local environmental health staff are working closely with the school and a number of other local businesses to contact trace any further close contacts of the cases and appropriate advice is being advice given to these individuals.

NHSGGC’s Dr Iain Kennedy said:  “We can confirm there are links between this cluster and cases within Lanarkshire Health Board. We work closely on cross-Board issues on a regular basis, including the current clusters, where investigations are ongoing.

“There is currently no evidence of transmission in the schools.  There is evidence that mixing socially, particularly around social gatherings in houses, without maintaining physical distancing measures can transmit the virus and is a factor in these investigation.”

Anyone with any concerns should visit the NHS Inform website on www.nhsinform.scot
