Transport update between Vale of Leven Hospital and Royal Alexandra Hospital

  • 2 min read

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can confirm that a free, in-house transport service for patients, staff, and products between the Vale of Leven Hospital (VoLH) and the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) will begin operation on 29th June 2025.

The 340 Vale of Leven – RAH bus service, currently funded through a partnership with SPT, will end after service on 28th June 2025.

This in-house transport service will be a direct route between the VoLH and the RAH only.

The service will also run more frequently than the previous timetable and is free of charge to patients and staff.

Transportation will be accessible for wheelchair users and will be suitable for prams and buggies. Patients and their carer companions can also travel together.

Billy Hunter, Deputy Director of Facilities and Corporate for NHSGGC, said: “NHSGGC will continue to provide a transport link between the VoLH and the RAH, and we will move to a free, in-house transport service from 29th June 2025.

“This direct service between the two hospitals will ensure a link remains for patients and staff.

“We would like to thank SPT for their support for the operation of the 340 bus service.”

From 29th June, this new in-house transport service will be eligible for all NHS staff and patients with a scheduled appointment at the RAH or the VoLH.

The service timetable and the pick-up and drop-off locations for each site will be published in the coming weeks.
