Councillor Colette McDiarmid

Biography

Councillor Colette McDiarmid is appointed as a non-executive member from 8th June 2022 until 30th April 2027.

Colette has over 10 years experience of working in the public sector and, more recently, has been working for a charity in the third sector.

In her spare time she is a befriender for the RAF Association.

Dianne Foy

Non-Executive Member

Biography

Dianne Foy is appointed a non-executive member from 1st July 2022 until 30th June 2025.

Dianne is a counsellor in private practice, having graduated from the University of Strathclyde in 2018. She is also a qualified Environmental Health Officer, most recently working in public health enforcement during the Coronavirus pandemic.

She is a member of the Board of Flourish House, a mental health charity and The Courtyard Pantry, a food project aiming to alleviate poverty and increase access to food and employment.

Dianne has prior governance experience, having served on the Boards of Glasgow Women’s Aid and Home-Start Renfrewshire and Inverclyde.

Dianne worked within the field of Environmental Protection for 20 years, progressing from officer to Unit Manager level, gaining experience of enforcement, regulation, auditing, policy and strategy, as well as risk management, health and safety and emergency planning.

She has diversified her career significantly in the last ten years, working and volunteering within the third sector and gaining experience within the areas of women’s services, mental health support, families and children, community transport and adult disability.

Having now worked in the private, public and third sectors in a broad range of roles, Dianne Foy feels she has a unique perspective to bring to this Board position.

    Professor Angela Wallace

    Nurse Director

    Biography

    Professor Angela Wallace was appointed as the Board’s Nurse Director in April 2022.

    Angela joined the Board from NHS Forth Valley where she had been Board Nurse Director since 2004. In addition, following her appointment by Scottish Government in February 2020 to the post of Interim Director for Infection Prevention and Control with NHSGGC, Angela has also provided leadership, guidance and assurance to our Board on the management and prevention of infection within our services.

    She brings a wealth of experience leading nursing, midwifery and allied health professions.

    Professor Angela Wallace’s achievements include the delivery of a comprehensive Quality and Safety strategy and the development of the country’s first nursing and midwifery care assurance system to drive performance improvement in nursing care.

    David Gould

    Non-Executive Member

    Biography

    David Gould is appointed a non-executive member from 1st February 2022 until 31st January 2026.

    David Gould, a graduate of University of Strathclyde Business School, qualified as a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland in 1997, having trained with Price Waterhouse.

    He has devoted his career to working in the public sector. David has occupied Finance roles within Scottish Enterprise and NHS 24 during its key start-up and roll-out phase, before being appointed Head of Corporate Services for Glasgow City Marketing Bureau; responsible for the successful delivery of corporate governance, HR, IT, Legal and Risk Management.

    David has held Non-Executive positions within Registers of Scotland and Forestry Commission Scotland during periods of significant organisational challenge and change, and is currently a Non-Executive Director for GoFar Enterprises, a specialist media publisher and the Chairman of an after school care provider.

    He is committed to helping to contribute to the people of Glasgow receiving the highest possible level of health and social care though optimising the use of available resources, skills and knowledge.

    Outside of work, he is an award-winning sports journalist and photographer.

    Dr Emilia Crighton, Director of Public Health

    Director of Public Health

    Biography

    Emilia became a member of the NHS Board in February 2022.

    Emilia qualified in Medicine in 1991 and after gaining the Royal College of Physician exams, she joined the West of Scotland training scheme for Public Health Medicine. During this time, she gained a Master in Public Health (Glasgow University 2000) and became Member of the Faculty of Public Health (2004). In 2006 she was elected Fellow of the Faculty of Public Health and served two terms as Convenor of the Faculty of Public Health in Scotland.

    Emilia joined NHS Greater Glasgow in 2006 as a Consultant in Public Health Medicine and was appointed lead clinician for screening programmes; head of Health Services Section; Deputy Director of Public Health; and during 2015 and 2016 and again in 2022 Interim Director of Public Health. Emilia was appointed Director of Public Health in August 2023.

    Emilia led the implementation and ongoing delivery of new national screening programmes like abdominal aortic aneurysm; and bowel screening; was a strong advocate for healthy public health policy like the introduction of a minimum price per unit of alcohol sold; sugar tax; and effective drug addiction interventions. She remains passionate about effective health preventative interventions including those addressing the fundamental causes of ill health like poverty and inequity.
