NHS human resources and recruitment teams have been honoured for their valuable input helping to significantly boost our health workforce to support efforts during the pandemic.

Recruitment website, s1jobs.com paid testament to HR teams across Scotland’s territorial and specialist boards for their efforts, picking up the Chairman’s Award at the firm’s recent awards ceremony.

Anne MacPherson, Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development, at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, was on-hand to pick up the award on behalf of NHSScotland at a ceremony in Glasgow.

She said: “The coronavirus pandemic has been a challenge like no other and our teams across Scotland have gone the extra mile to find the right people to support our efforts. That has included contact tracing and COVID testing teams, to a veritable army of thousands of vaccinators, all helping us to win the battle against the virus.

“Throughout, we have also provided support to NHS Scotland’s workforce of more than 150,000 colleagues, as they have faced the most daunting period any of us can remember – and throughout, we have tried to remain as One NHS Family, working on behalf of our patients, their loved ones and the wider communities we serve.”

At points during the pandemic, teams were working seven days per week and it’s estimated that NHS Scotland HR and recruitment teams sifted just under one million applications, dealing at any one time with over 5,000 job vacancies.

Gavin Mochan, Managing Director of s1jobs.com described the HR and recruitment teams as ‘the heroes behind our carers’ and thanked the teams for their hard work, putting ‘patients before yourself.’

Anne, who is the Vice Chair of the NHS HRDs added: “We are continuing to grow our great community, across our sites and specialities and we have a number of open days in May planned for registered nurses who may want to work in our facilities, including Glasgow Royal Infirmary and our other main sites, where the recruitment days are taking place.

“The NHS in Scotland – and across Greater Glasgow and Clyde – remains a great place to work and I would encourage everyone to think about a career in our NHS family.”
