Organ and Tissue Donation Policy

Organ donation refers to the donation of a solid organ or organs. This includes, though is not limited to, heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, pancreas and small bowel.

Tissue donation includes the donation of corneas, skin, bone, tendons and heart valves.

The aim of this practical policy is to ensure that within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde every patient’s decision to be an organ or tissue donor following their death is fulfilled wherever possible.
