Celebrating our staff as NHS turns 75

  • 3 min read

Celebrations have taken place across our sites marking the 75th anniversary of the NHS and recognising the amazing work of our staff and volunteers, while highlighting healthcare excellence.

Dedicated staff have provided healthcare to patients and communities across Glasgow, the surrounding areas and Clyde for more than seven decades, and on Wednesday (5th July) were thanked at various celebrations across the board.

As the largest health board in Scotland, NHSGGC serves a population of more than 1.2 million people and has remained at the forefront of healthcare innovation, high quality treatment and caring for the wellbeing of our communities.

The health board encompasses an extensive range of hospitals and health care facilities delivering a variety of services that continually enhance the lives of patients through high quality care provided by teams of skilled professionals.

Chief Executive of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, Jane Grant, said: “This is a remarkable achievement for the NHS in Scotland and the wider UK, and it gives us an opportunity to reflect on the major contribution the NHS makes to all our lives.

“The NHS has delivered almost an immeasurable number of babies, treated millions of patients, cared for loved ones at the end of their lives and we have also supported a countless number of family members and friends through their loved ones’ health care journey.

“This takes a huge amount of commitment, compassion and care, which our staff embody every day.
“It is a milestone that deserves to be recognised and signifies the unwavering dedication from our staff in providing and exceptional standard of healthcare to the people of Glasgow and the surrounding areas.”
