A special £50,000 thank you for the ValeThe cancer unit at the Vale of Leven Hospital has received one of the biggest donations in its history after Ethel Smith, wife of the late Scotland and Rangers manager Walter Smith, nominated the unit for support.Walter received treatment at the Vale, and Ethel chose the unit in recognition of the care her family received and the difference the team continues to make for patients across the local community.Earlier this month, she dropped in to the unit to present a cheque for £50,000, which will be used to enhance facilities and help make the experience of patients receiving treatment there that little bit easier. The donation came from the Emmie Smillie Charity Foundation, which supports cancer services across Scotland.
