A Renfrewshire man has become one of the first patients to benefit from robotic-assisted surgery at the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH), as NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde expands access to this advanced treatment closer to home.William Gillespie, 83, from Elderslie, had a bowel tumour successfully removed using robotic surgery at the RAH – meaning less invasive treatment, a quicker recovery and a shorter hospital stay. The introduction of this technology at the Paisley hospital marks a major step forward for local services, bringing high-quality care closer to patients across Renfrewshire, Inverclyde and West Dunbartonshire. It also builds on wider investment across NHSGGC, which has now delivered more than 5,000 robotic-assisted procedures, with these also taking place at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.Read William’s story and find out how this technology is improving patient care: www.nhsggc.scot/renfrewshire-patient-among-first-to-benefit-from-robotic-surgery-at-rah/ See MoreSee Less
