The Royal Hospital for Children has become the first children’s hospital in the world to own a Versius Plus surgical robot dedicated exclusively to caring for children.Made possible by a landmark donation of more than £1.5 million from the Coldstones Charitable Trust to Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity's innovation arm, Hi: Children's Healthcare Innovation Scotland, the technology will help more young patients access minimally invasive keyhole surgery, including for complex procedures.For some children, robotic-assisted surgery can mean less pain, less scarring, shorter hospital stays and a quicker return to everyday life.It’s a major milestone for children’s healthcare in Glasgow and Scotland, with the programme also creating opportunities for research, training and innovation that could help shape paediatric surgical care internationally.Read the full story: www.nhsggc.scot/landmark-donation-puts-glasgow-at-forefront-of-childrens-robotic-surgery/
