Dedicated staff and volunteers from across Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP) were recognised at the Staff Awards for Excellence (SAFE) 2026, held at the City Chambers early this year.

The awards celebrate individuals, teams, projects and volunteers who have gone above and beyond in supporting colleagues, service users and communities across Glasgow.

Opening the event, Chief Officer Pat Togher thanked nominees and those who submitted nominations, highlighting the positive impact staff and volunteers make every day. He said: “Your commitment to making a difference does not go unnoticed. I congratulate you all.”

Award winners included:

  • Team of the Year: Shift Team Project Workers at the James McLean Project, recognised for providing compassionate, person-centred support to vulnerable young people experiencing homelessness.
  • Leader of the Year: Marie Brown, Service Manager, South Learning Disability Team, for strengthening integration and collaboration between health and social work services.
  • Employee of the Year: Sabine Gnauck, Service Manager, Hospital Discharge Team, for her leadership, compassion and commitment to supporting patients and staff.
  • Innovation of the Year: Enhanced Care Service, which has helped reduce hospital delays and improve outcomes by supporting medically fit patients into care homes or community settings.
  • Volunteer of the Year: Stuart James, founder of Scotland’s first Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) Support Circle, which has grown into a valuable peer-support network.

Commendations were also awarded across all categories, recognising outstanding contributions from teams and individuals including Balmore Children’s House, Sinead Mallon, Mark O’Donnell, the Making It Happen Project Team, and the Young Persons Befriending Service Volunteer Team.

Closing the ceremony, Pat Togher congratulated all nominees, saying: “Every single nominee is a winner. Your dedication, compassion and hard work make a real difference to our HSCP and to the citizens of Glasgow.”
