The fourth meeting of the Safety and Public Confidence Oversight Group took place this week. Updates were provided on progress made since the last meeting, and the following key points were discussed:
1. Engagement and Portfolio Work Continues to Progress
Progress continues across all three portfolio areas. Updates were provided on patient, family and staff engagement activity, technical assurance work, and the programme of work focused on professional relationships, culture and learning.
2. Recognition of Contributions
The SPCG recognised the significant time, effort and commitment being given by colleagues, external experts, and patient and family representatives to progress this work. Their contribution continues to support robust and evidence-informed outputs.
3. Small Group Discussions
Plans for the July and August small group discussions were discussed. These sessions will provide an opportunity for a more detailed review of emerging findings and feedback ahead of final reports.
4. HAI-SCRIBE
The group received an overview of HAI-SCRIBE, the nationally recognised process used to identify and manage infection prevention and control risks within healthcare buildings. The discussion highlighted the importance of multidisciplinary working and robust risk assessment in supporting safe decision-making and assurance across complex healthcare environments.
5. Risk Management
An overview of the programme’s headline risks was provided, alongside an update on the ongoing development of the risk register. The importance of continued risk oversight was discussed, with further consideration of the risk register planned at a future meeting.
