Public asked to nominate their local NHS heroes for NHSGGC People’s Choice Award

  • 3 min read

People across Greater Glasgow and Clyde are being invited to nominate outstanding staff, teams and services for this year’s NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) Excellence Awards.

The People’s Choice Award gives patients, families, carers, members of the public and staff the opportunity to recognise an individual, group or team whose dedication, compassion and commitment have made a meaningful difference to the lives of people across Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

The award celebrates those whose contributions often happen behind the scenes and may go largely unrecognised, yet have a profound impact on patients, families, colleagues and communities.

Whether it is a nurse who provided exceptional care during a difficult time, a ward team that consistently goes above and beyond, a porter whose kindness brightened someone’s day, or a colleague whose support has made a difference to patients and staff alike, NHSGGC wants to hear about them.

Nominees should demonstrate the values of the NHS through exceptional care, kindness and a commitment to making a positive difference to the people they support.

Through small acts of support or sustained efforts that improve the experiences and outcomes of others, they show an unwavering commitment to helping people when they need it most.

The People’s Choice Award shines a light on these unsung heroes whose work makes a real and lasting difference, inspiring others through their dedication and selfless service.

Professor Jann Gardner, Chief Executive of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, said: “Every day across our hospitals and community services, staff and volunteers make an extraordinary difference to the people they care for.

“The People’s Choice Award gives patients, families, carers, members of the public and colleagues the opportunity to recognise those individuals and teams whose compassion, commitment and dedication have had a positive impact on their lives.

“We know there are countless examples of exceptional care taking place across NHSGGC every day, and we would encourage anyone who has experienced that care first-hand to submit a nomination and help celebrate their local NHS heroes.”

The People’s Choice Award is one of 10 categories included in the refreshed NHSGGC Excellence Awards for 2026, which recognise excellence in patient care, innovation, leadership, sustainability, staff wellbeing, volunteering and tackling health inequalities.

The awards will culminate in a Celebrating Success event later this year.

Anyone can submit a nomination to the People’s Choice category, including patients, family members, carers, visitors, local residents and NHS colleagues.

The closing date for nominations is Friday 24th July 2026.
