We are launching a new GP Walk-in Clinic at Cardonald Medical Centre on Monday, 29th June from 3pm.
This service is designed for urgent care, non-life-threatening conditions that require immediate treatment and cannot wait for a routine primary care appointment.
The clinic will then be open from 12pm to 8pm to Monday to Sunday.
The service is for patients based within the following practices:
- Dr Datta & Dr McGill – Cardonald Medical Centre
- Dr Patrick O’Neill Surgery – Cardonald Medical Centre
- Craigton Medical Practice – Govan Health Centre and Westfield Health Centre
- The Green Practice – Govan Health Centre
- The Yellow Practice – Govan Health Centre
- The David Elder Medical Practice – Govan Health Centre
- Thurston Road Surgery
- Dr Mair and Partners – Shaw Street and Paisley Road West
If you live in the following postcodes, but are not a registered patient with these practices, you may also attend the Walk-In Clinic:

- All G52
- All G53
- PA1 3
- PA4 0 or PA4 8
When To Use This Service
This service is designed for urgent care, non-life-threatening conditions that require immediate treatment and cannot wait for a routine primary care appointment. Examples include:
- New pain or fever
- Suspected chest, throat or ear infection
- Acute or new urinary symptoms
- Skin conditions (rashes or infections)
- Muscle, joint, or back pain
- Stomach or bowel problems
- Headaches or dizziness
- Flare-ups of existing conditions (e.g. asthma)
Appointments cannot be pre-booked. You must attend the clinic in person to be allocated an appointment.
At the GP Walk-in Clinic, you will be seen by a Clinician in the centre, signposted to another service, referred back to GP as a non-urgent presentation, referred to FNC+Plus, or referred to A&E.
When Not To Use This Service
- Medical emergencies (e.g. chest pain, severe bleeding or severe breathing difficulties – attend your nearest A&E or call 999)
- Minor injuries (e.g. sprains, possible broken bones, minor burns, bites – call NHS 24 on 111)
- Long-term or pre-diagnosed conditions
- Mental Health conditions
- Repeat prescriptions; medicines reviews or prescriptions for controlled drugs
- Sexual health checks (including contraception)
- Sick notes (fit notes)
- Doctors letters
- Vaccinations
- Blood tests
- Dental
- Ophthalmology
If you attend with a condition that is not urgent or is better treated elsewhere, staff will redirect you to the most appropriate service.
The service is not available to children aged under 3 months. They should continue to consult their usual GP or other health professional.
How to find the service
The GP Walk-In Clinic is located within the Cardonald Medical Centre (1831 Paisley Rd W, Glasgow, G52 3SS).
During normal opening hours of the centre, the front entrance can be used to access the GP Walk-In Clinic. After 6pm, you will only be able to access the GP Walk-In Clinic from the rear entrance.
Free parking is available opposite the centre next to Morrisons.
