The Gartnavel Department works closely with the other four Audiology Departments in Glasgow, as well as the paediatric service.

Biochemistry

The North Glasgow Biochemistry department comprises laboratory sites at:

Gartnavel General Hospital: The laboratory is located in the Laboratory Block on Shelley Road and operates Monday to Friday, 8.45am – 9pm. NB. Samples are only accepted into the GGH lab until 7.30pm. After this time, samples are directed to the porters’ box and transported to GRI for analysis.

Glasgow Royal Infirmary: The laboratory is located in the MacEwen Building on Alexandra Parade (adjacent to A&E). It provides routine service Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm and on Saturday, 9am – 12pm. An emergency service operates at all times.

New Stobhill Hospital: A small satellite laboratory is located on Level 1 and operates Monday to Friday, 9am – 5pm.

There is a central reporting office located at Glasgow Royal Infirmary, open 9am to 5pm, which covers the three North Glasgow laboratory sites.

Last night my husband had to call an ambulance for me as I took unwell. The ambulance came within ten minutes, the crew were fantastic- so caring and professional. On arrival to QEUH I was taken in straight away and seen by a nurse who did bloods, ECG and other investigations. I didn’t wait too long to see a Dr who was also thorough and reassuring. All staff were obviously busy but were caring and approachable. I just wanted to tell you my experience as I know there is a lot of negative press but I can honestly say I received top service."
