Biography
Susan Brimelow has worked for over 40 years in health and social care in the public, private, and voluntary sectors.
She retired from her role as Chief Inspector in March 2015 having introduced inspections across the NHS in Scotland in 2009, to provide public assurance about the safety and cleanliness of hospitals.
Susan has held a variety of positions in the NHS – as a registered nurse and Director of Nursing, at Scottish Executive and with the Care Commission as Director of Healthcare Regulation. Susan also brings experience as a Trustee in the voluntary sector.
She was awarded an OBE in the 2015 New Year Honours for services to patient care and safety.
